We are dedicated to encouraging teens to make better choices concerning their health, safety, and future by providing educational programs that speak to the life changing effects of drug use, underage drinking and driving.

Media/Press

This section will contain media and press reports about IMPACT.

What is IMPACT 2011?

IMPACT 2011 is presented by Prom Pledge, Impact, Inc., a non-profit organization that was founded for the purpose of saving lives. In its fifth year, IMPACT 2011 will provide the opportunity for over 7,000 high school juniors and seniors from all over the Southeast Ohio area to listen to motivational speakers who will present a sobering look at what can happen when poor choices are made. These choices may involve alcohol and drugs, poor driving habits or peer pressure. The method of getting the message out is through an assembly type setting that will make an “impact” on the way they think. All attendees will receive a memento that has a reminder to “Think Responsibly” and lunch will be provided.

Who is involved?

IMPACT 2011 is presented by Prom Pledge, Impact, Inc. and supported by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and the Ohio Department of Public Safety. Hundreds of volunteers work together to make the event possible.

Is there a need for IMPACT 2011?

Alcohol related accidents are the number one killer among teenagers. Mixing alcohol with driving is a lethal combination. Underage drinking is America’s number one youth drug problem, killing more youth than any other illicit drugs combined. IMPACT 2011 is timed to make an “impact” on the choices young adults make at a period in their lives when graduation parties and proms can undermine good decision making.

Where will it be held?

IMPACT 2011 will be held at the Ohio University Convocation Center in April, 2011. The event will begin at approximately 10:00 a.m. and will end at 1 p.m.

Who will be speaking?

IMPACT 2011 will feature a nationally known speaker. Organizers also are planning a high-tech, dynamic, celebrity-filled multi-media show on two 12’ x 43’ screens. This motivational media program is the most widely used drug-prevention and character building assembly in the U.S.

How is the program funded?

The program is funded through donations to Prom Pledge, Impact, Inc., a non-profit organization. For more information, contact Jeremy Mendenhall at jeremy@prompledge-impact.org or Jessica Wingett at jessica@prompledge-impact.org.

"I loved helping out with IMPACT last spring. It was amazing to see what an 'impact' the stories of the speakers had on the kids! I am proud to be a part of something that I really feel is changing the lives of kids in the Southern Ohio region!" --Molly Adams
